What the source establishes
The OVHcloud CLI advisory identifies replaced official release binaries within a specific download window and describes credential-stealing behavior. Exposure depends on artifact acquisition and execution. The event does not establish compromise of every OVHcloud tenant or of every release.

Where the evidence stops
A trusted download location and a clean source tree do not independently establish that a particular downloaded binary was safe.
Use this report as a dated interpretation. A vendor notice establishes what that vendor reports; a research observation establishes what the researcher observed. Neither automatically answers the account-specific question for your business. Record later changes to the source before relying on its versions, deadlines or recovery sequence.
Establish your own scope
Locate downloaded binaries, their identifiers, acquisition times and execution hosts. Map the local files and identities available to those processes, including credentials for services unrelated to the CLI vendor.
- Identify the exact service, artifact, account or device relevant to your business, with a responsible owner.
- Record whether the source applies to that asset and what evidence supports the match.
- Separate evidence of exposure, evidence of activity and evidence of business impact. Leave unanswered questions explicitly open.
What would change the assessment?
Record the replacement artifact identity, test required administrative operations and review downstream account activity. Demonstrate that retired credentials and unauthorized sessions no longer work.
Revisit the decision when the provider changes scope, a new account-specific notice arrives or local evidence contradicts the current assumption. Preserve the earlier conclusion and the reason it changed. Do not silently turn a precaution into a confirmed breach, or an absence of telemetry into proof of safety.
Decision checkpoint
Return administrative access only when the host, tooling and relevant account controls have each passed their own verification checks.
