Keep work moving with controlled exceptions

Coordinate the business interpretation of account, query and commercial records. Different teams may have supplied different information to the same provider. A single status email should not substitute for collecting those records and understanding which business processes they support.

Your immediate priorities

  • Ask finance, support and data teams what they submitted or stored in provider tooling.
  • Keep a dated list of unresolved vendor questions and internal decisions.

How to work through the decision

Run a short operating review with the people who own the affected workflows. Separate work that can continue, work that needs a temporary process and work that should wait. For each exception, record the customer commitment, decision owner and evidence needed to return to normal. Count delayed or reconciled transactions rather than treating a supplier status page as a complete business measure.

Evidence to ask for

An information-category register with business owners and follow-up dates.

Which records outside the production database could still matter to our customers?

Work with the next person

Give the technical manager a prioritized workflow list and acceptance criteria. Ask for evidence in terms of the operation that must work, then arrange for the relevant staff to exercise it.

A scenario to rehearse

Illustrative exercise, not an observed customer incident: An operations team assumes its customer database is unaffected because the production cluster remains healthy, but a saved support query contains customer identifiers. The exercise asks the data owner to classify that separate exposure path.

What a useful outcome looks like

An information-category register with business owners and follow-up dates. Keep the decision dated and return to it if new evidence changes the scope.
