Keep work moving with controlled exceptions

Plan for integration disruption during trust updates. Payment, shipping or identity connections may need attention even when the storefront looks normal. Coordinate an approved fallback for affected workflows and make clear that bypassing a security warning is not an acceptable service-restoration shortcut.

Your immediate priorities

  • List critical integrations with their operational owners.
  • Track certificate-related failures separately from general application outages during the change.

How to work through the decision

Run a short operating review with the people who own the affected workflows. Separate work that can continue, work that needs a temporary process and work that should wait. For each exception, record the customer commitment, decision owner and evidence needed to return to normal. Count delayed or reconciled transactions rather than treating a supplier status page as a complete business measure.

Evidence to ask for

A workflow validation checklist covering payments, shipping, sign-in and supplier exchanges.

Which customer commitment depends on a connection nobody has tested after the trust update?

Work with the next person

Give the technical manager a prioritized workflow list and acceptance criteria. Ask for evidence in terms of the operation that must work, then arrange for the relevant staff to exercise it.

A scenario to rehearse

Illustrative exercise, not an observed customer incident: Staff browsers are updated but an order-sync container keeps its older CA bundle. The exercise locates that separate verifier and tests the integration after rebuilding and redeploying the container.

What a useful outcome looks like

A workflow validation checklist covering payments, shipping, sign-in and supplier exchanges. Keep the decision dated and return to it if new evidence changes the scope.
