Keep work moving with controlled exceptions

Own the operational migration checklist alongside the incident response. A replacement homepage is not evidence that all work moved. Include staff routines, scheduled reports, order exceptions and the support history needed to keep commitments during the transition.

Your immediate priorities

  • Document a complete business cycle and identify its hidden scheduled activities.
  • Arrange reconciliation of records created during the migration window.

How to work through the decision

Run a short operating review with the people who own the affected workflows. Separate work that can continue, work that needs a temporary process and work that should wait. For each exception, record the customer commitment, decision owner and evidence needed to return to normal. Count delayed or reconciled transactions rather than treating a supplier status page as a complete business measure.

Evidence to ask for

A business acceptance checklist with exception owners and a continuity timetable.

What work occurs outside the visible application that the replacement must still perform?

Work with the next person

Give the technical manager a prioritized workflow list and acceptance criteria. Ask for evidence in terms of the operation that must work, then arrange for the relevant staff to exercise it.

A scenario to rehearse

Illustrative exercise, not an observed customer incident: An application is moved successfully, but its scheduled invoice export remains on the old platform. The exercise uses a full business-day rehearsal to discover missing work before the provider shutdown.

What a useful outcome looks like

A business acceptance checklist with exception owners and a continuity timetable. Keep the decision dated and return to it if new evidence changes the scope.
