Keep work moving with controlled exceptions
Coordinate the business effects of temporarily restricted backup or administration access. Teams may continue working while their recovery coverage changes. Record that condition explicitly and avoid making new commitments that assume normal recovery capability.
Your immediate priorities
- Identify critical records and the temporary recovery method for each.
- Arrange controlled handling of work created during any backup coverage gap.
How to work through the decision
Run a short operating review with the people who own the affected workflows. Separate work that can continue, work that needs a temporary process and work that should wait. For each exception, record the customer commitment, decision owner and evidence needed to return to normal. Count delayed or reconciled transactions rather than treating a supplier status page as a complete business measure.
Evidence to ask for
A continuity register describing recovery coverage, exceptions and accountable owners.
What business work is being created while our normal backup integration is restricted?
Work with the next person
Give the technical manager a prioritized workflow list and acceptance criteria. Ask for evidence in terms of the operation that must work, then arrange for the relevant staff to exercise it.

A scenario to rehearse
Illustrative exercise, not an observed customer incident: Every user changes their password, but a malicious application credential still authorizes access to business files. The exercise requires the identity team to find and invalidate the separate application path.
What a useful outcome looks like
A continuity register describing recovery coverage, exceptions and accountable owners. Keep the decision dated and return to it if new evidence changes the scope.
