Trace the exposure path
Inventory supported devices and their update status. Assess targeted-risk indicators through the established mobile-security process, separately from general social-media claims.
Build a small evidence map from the initiating dependency to the identities, business data and operations it can reach. Include indirect consumers and scheduled work. An inventory entry describes a possible path; activity logs and other account evidence are needed to establish what happened on that path.
Collect the right evidence
- Track supported models, active software versions and exceptions.
- Test account-session revocation and a supported alternative authentication path.
- Record asset identifiers, artifact or configuration versions, permission scope, evidence dates and the owner of each unresolved question. Do not include secret values.
Control and repair
Escalate credible signs of targeted compromise to the appropriate security responder. Preserve the device and evidence under their instructions rather than initiating ad hoc resets or installing unverified diagnostic tools.
Apply official supported updates or replace unsupported devices as part of normal fleet management. For a suspected targeted case, follow the responder’s recovery and identity-review plan.
Prove the boundary
Record device eligibility, active version and the outcome of the authorised assessment. Verify that the user has a tested, independent account-recovery path.
Use positive tests for the business function and negative tests for the access that should now be denied. Record which environment was tested and whether it represents production. Do not treat a successful login, clean homepage or healthy infrastructure graph as a substitute for an authorization or integrity test.
Engineering handoff
A tested access-recovery path and attributable server-side action records.
A fleet coverage register and a specialist escalation procedure.
Acceptance gate
Return a suspected device to sensitive use only under the responsible responder’s decision; routine patch completion alone is not forensic clearance.
